About

This website is all about sharing recipes, not just food recipes … but survival recipes. It may seem pointless to launch a new recipe-sharing website in the age of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), where nearly any information is available with the click of a button—and recipes can be generated by a chatbot based on a photo of the ingredients you have on hand.

As A.I. gradually robs us of our ability to think for ourselves, this site instead focuses on sharing information about a soon-to-be-forgotten craft: how to survive on your own, in the wilderness or on the farm. While the site is geared primarily toward hunters and harvesters … homesteaders, off-gridders, survivalists, preppers, outdoorsmen, woodsmen, mountain men, bushcrafters, and other self-sufficient individuals may also find value here—especially anyone interested in traditional recipes and methods rather than modern convenience. I created this platform to share information, a so-called repository for survival knowledge … so if you have some old-world knowledge or skill, I encourage you to share it here.

This site began as a passion project, so reason be damned, right?!. I mentioned my desire to start this site to my wife several years ago, but it’s taken time to get it to this point. The main purpose of this site isn’t to generate traffic or ad revenue, but to educate myself on living better and healthier through a whole-food lifestyle rooted in traditional methods. As someone who has struggled with chronic high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and is probably prediabetic, I’m interested in learning how to medicate myself through food. I believe the physical activity of hunting, foraging, and harvesting—combined with the process of preparing and cooking these gathered ingredients—to be cathartic and good for both body and soul.
